The Pub...

The Black Horse is nestled in the beautiful hamlet of Byworth. Inside, this untouched 16th century Inn has the perfect Old-World country look and feel. The front bar has a traditional atmosphere with its large fireplace, bare-board flooring, and massive beams. It is separate from the restaurant and has an excellent selection of beer which changes regularly between the local breweries.

To the rear of the premises the terraced garden and adjoining stream look out over a beautiful valley in the foothills of the South Downs. The view looks down upon layers of trees and flowers before spreading out into the fields.

The interior of the pub has wattle and daub walls, hung with an eclectic range of original photographs and prints. The cosy restaurant was created from the old kitchen (with original range on display) and rear courtyard. This is the perfect place for small or larger groups of people to dine.

The food is of the highest standard, using only the best fresh local produce. The regular menu is updated to reflect seasonal change, and the daily specials maximise the availability of local seafood from the South Coast.
